A Novel Love follows Elsy, who feels directionless in her love life and career. She thought she had it all when she fell in love with Liam, only to have him dump her days before their wedding. Elsy goes to a solo book retreat to gain some clarity and soon finds herself lost in a fictional town from her favorite book series.
This is a novel for book lovers. One of my favorite aspects was that Elsy, as an English professor and book lover, describes how books make her feel and how they bring her closer to her friends. Elsy uses books to get through her darkest moments, and leans on them for comfort. She feels a connection to her favorite author because her words speak to Elsy in a way that no others do.
This book felt cozy and whimsical and took me to a place of wonder and warmth. The third-act breakup was a bit confusing to me, and one specific character felt out of place in the novel. Otherwise, I thought it was a very charming book!
